This Is Their Life Film

Life Story Films told by Family & Friends

Whether you are looking to create a film about a loved one as a gift, surprise them with a film at a birthday or retirement celebration, or create a tribute to someone you've lost, I can interview friends and family to gather the stories, memories and anecdotes that make up their life. The interviews are sensitively edited into a personal documentary, creating an heirloom to treasure for more than a lifetime.

A Life Story Film Told by Friends and Family

A "This Is Their Life" film is a unique way to celebrate someone you love. Friends and family are interviewed individually about the people, places, events and stories that have shaped their loved one's life.

The interviews are crafted into a film full of humour, affection and emotion, creating a completely personal keepsake that can be treasured for generations.

If you'd like the film to be unveiled as a surprise, I can also create a shorter highlight film to be shown at a birthday, anniversary or other celebration.

A Surprise or Gift

A This Is Their Life film makes a very personal birthday, anniversary or retirement gift — particularly when the finished film is revealed as a surprise. Hearing friends and family share stories that the subject may have forgotten, never heard before or simply never expected to hear can make the film an unforgettable part of the celebration.

A Remembrance Film:

A remembrance film preserves the life story of someone who has died through the heartfelt stories, memories and anecdotes of the people who knew and loved them. Friends and family recount the moments that shaped their life — bringing together different memories, perspectives and stories to create a lasting portrait of the person they were.

As with all my films, the interviews can be illustrated with photographs, home movies, archive material, graphics and music chosen to reflect the mood and emotion of the story.

The finished film becomes a lasting family history: a way of remembering, sharing and passing their story on to future generations.

This Is Their Life Film Examples

Rob: This Is Their Life Story Film
Told by his friends and family
Taster: Clip of family man and adrenalin addict.
Location: Alderley Edge
Final film: 45 minutes plus 12 min party edit surprise

This is a classic "This is Your Life Story" Film told by Rob's friends and family to create a surprise film to be shown at his 50th Birthday party.

His wife, children, family and friends all told me stories of him falling in love, falling off his bikes, falling asleep and falling off his drive. Oh, and playing golf badly, and then slightly better. Even as they were crying with laughter as they recounted the stories, their love for him was obvious.

I was interviewing his lovely Mum when she suddenly said "Hold on, I've got his school reports here somewhere".  They were absolutely shocking. I instantly knew that would be the start of the film for this successful business man!

It's strange making films about someone that I know so much about but often never meet. I felt as though I'd known him forever by the time I'd spent weeks editing the interviews and going through the photos.

The full 45 minute documentary film was supplied to him on a memory stick in a gift box after the 12 minute highlight film was unveiled at his party to a brilliant reaction.

Not every film has as much falling over in it, but preserving memories and saving stories is what Life Camera Reaction do best.

James: This Is Their Life Story Film
Told by his friends and family
Taster: Clip of family man and his boat, car, lake
Location: Cheshire
Final film: 90 minutes plus surprise 15 minute highlight film

A surprise This Is Your Life Story Film exploring James' high-octane and colourful life was told by more than thirty of his closest friends, family and employees. They were interviewed and filmed over several days - all unbeknownst to him.

The full 90 minute documentary film was supplied to him on a memory stick in a gift box but not before an edited 15 minute Highlight Film was premiered at his 50th birthday party in Cheshire much to his shock/ surprise, and to the guests' absolute delight. I have never heard as many people actually roaring with laughter before!

How did we do it? Well prior to filming, research gave us the background to his life and then we found out the inside story from those who know him best - we asked them about the highs and lows, the wins and losses and most importantly which of his numerous fancy dress costumes was the biggest fail.

Not every film has as many interviews to tell the story, and not every subject has as many rules for guests on his boat, but preserving memories and saving stories is what Life Camera Reaction does best so have your own "Life Story Film" made by us.
